Lo I Know...

Know I note my ancestors before me
Whose seeds sprung forth to let me be
My maternal and paternal have set the stage to see
What it feels like to live as free

Lo they came before me
My mother and my father
From a different time and different place
A new century would see me
Born with a unique face

As I grow into my own
Lo I recall the days of old
A history foretoldOf places and families
And people with gold

As I watch in sadness my fore bearers pass
Bodies to dust--a legacy of heartI
prepare for my own
For I too shall come to pass
